THE RESTORATION
THE PAPER RESTORATION
Paper, like all structures composed of organic materials, undergoes over time a modification of its original state which we call “natural aging”.
The paper supports are made up of substances, variously mixed, which alter in very different ways both their original appearance and the graphic mediums of which they are made.
The degradation of the material depends not only on its fragile nature but also on the environment in which it is stored, on external environmental causes such as pollution and attacks of microorganisms and mechanical stresses.
The alterations of the cellulose, of which the paper support is made, cause serious modifications of the same.
These are natural phenomena that occur such as: hydrolysis, oxidation, fiber deformation, biodeterioration and photodeterioration.
For each of these reactions there are many components that act in the degradation of the paper so it is necessary to operate correctly with prevention and, where necessary, restoration interventions.
As a professional in the sector, I boast a great knowledge of the chemical-physical reactions that occur in paper and graphic mediums. Years of experience have allowed me to study the causes that determine the onset of degradation processes and deepen my knowledge on the developments and consequences of these mechanisms.
INTERVENTIONS
Disinfection and disinfestation treatments of paper material.
Localized consolidation and generalized consolidation operations.
Cleaning, washing and deacidification operations.
Operations to restore the functionality of the support: reinforcement, integration of gaps, application of support material and lining.
Surface protection, fixing and aesthetic presentation operations.
