WHO I AM

My activity as a restorer is, for me, a mission that enhances my interest in the conservation of all those works that the genius and art of men have been able to express over the centuries.

WHAT LED ME TO BE A RESTORER?

My love for art began when I was a child, in my father’s workshop, who is also a restorer of books, volumes and paper material. I grew up among silks, French papers, leather backs and gold leaves.

I love art and I am an incurable enthusiast: 30 years ago, at the end of the degree course, I decided to open a restoration studio to be able to live and work surrounded by works of art.

For me it is a unique sensation that is renewed every day to be able to analyze, touch, admire the works that come back to life under my care: every day is a new conquest.

My professional growth over the years has been constant and exponential, but it has been exciting above all to have been able to work on works of great artistic and economic value, being able to compare myself, both in Italy and abroad, with very qualifying professional experiences.

My competence and my knowledge of the subject are appreciated not only in the world of art, but also outside of this: since 2010 I have been collaborating with the Court of Milan as a Technical Consultant; I am frequently appointed by the judges to evaluate and estimate – from a technical-artistic point of view – a dispute over a work of art and support them in their decision.

Each restoration is a challenge for me to overcome that I face with humility, competence and, above all, with great respect for the work.

I am proud to see how my skillful restoration allows the work to come back to life.

HOW TO CHOOSE A RESTORER?

It is not easy to choose an expert and capable restorer, because even a collector, even if prepared, does not have all the necessary skills to evaluate the opportunity of a restoration intervention and if what is proposed to him for the restoration of his work is actually technically correct and resolutive.

First of all, we can speak of a serious and professional restorer when the latter, while recognizing an inadequate previous restoration intervention on a work, does not discredit the colleague, but offers the customer the solution for the redevelopment of the artifact.

Furthermore, a serious restorer never intervenes in an excessively invasive way as, in any case, the restoration must be reversible, because it is always possible that, in the future, the work may need other interventions.

Finally, a serious restorer shares the technical choices of intervention on the work with his client, who must always be properly informed about all the restoration activities that will be carried out.

WHY CHOOSE ME FOR THE RESTORATION OF A WORK?

Because, first of all, I am a restorer who supports and promotes an eco-sustainable restoration activity: an eco-friendly restorer is the one who takes care of the work of art, using techniques and products that are not harmful to nature and for the environment, since it is important to recover and preserve works of art to pass them on to future generations, but respecting today’s world for tomorrow.

Because my laboratory is perfectly equipped for diagnostic investigations.

Because, before any intervention, I draw up a precise analytical program of the restoration activities that I deem necessary and submit it to my client, to share with him the interventions that I am going to carry out on the work.

Because I carry out a restoration intervention only if it is justified both from a historical and aesthetic point of view and only if I am the first to believe that the intervention is technically suitable for achieving the desired result.

Because I work with a great sense of responsibility, the result of over thirty years of preparation that I cultivate daily, constantly updating myself: I am an excellent artisan, appreciated by leading international galleries that, for obvious reasons of confidentiality, it is not possible for me to mention.

Because the great artistic sensitivity that distinguishes me allows me to easily get in tune with the work of art I am restoring.

Because I am the first judge and severe criticism of myself, but I am also the first admirer of the result I can get, of which I am always proud.

Because, when necessary, I make use of a team of expert collaborators with high specific skills to always offer the best results.

Because for me the most beautiful prize and the greatest satisfaction for my work consist in the personal gratitude that my clients tangibly show me, by coming back to my laboratory to entrust me with other works to be restored.

And when this happens (which is very often !!!) any other consideration on my work and on the quality of my professionalism becomes superfluous at this point!

And with satisfaction, to myself, I like to think, almost as if it were a fairy tale, that it was the work itself that chose me for its restoration…
